Job summary

Loyola Medicine, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist to support the Loyola Medicine Transport team at Loyola University Medical Center in the Chicago area. The role involves inventory control, meeting with sales reps to obtain information about new drugs and promotions, and ensuring formulary-aligned stock within budget.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma, 1–2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience, IL licensure, and CPhT or ExCPT certification;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Student enrolled in a College of Pharmacy preferred.
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment preferred.
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification required for technicians licensed after 2007; new licensees have 2 years to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Meets with sales representatives to obtain information about new drugs and sales promotions.
• Manages inventory control and ensures adequate inventory within budget and formulary guidelines.

What You’ll Do

• Meets with sales representatives to obtain information about new drugs and sales promotions Practices appropriate inventory control and accountability procedures to ensure adequate inventory within budget constraints Determines appropriate drug inventory levels following formulary specifications and usage trends Perform other technician duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need For This Job

• High School Diploma
• Preferred: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• 1-2 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Student enrolled in a college of Pharmacy preferred
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment or related field preferred
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification validated by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT validated by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required for all technicians licensed after December 31st, 2007. Newly licensed technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT and become licensed as a registered certified pharmacy technician.

Pay Range: $20.02 - $31.03 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
