Job summary

Loyola Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a part-time registry role in Illinois. You will assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist, process specialty orders, verify benefits, and help patients with reimbursement issues. The position supports a rotating AM/PM schedule in a hospital setting.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma, Pharmacy Technician training, IL licensure, and CPhT/ExCPT certification for newer licenses. Prior customer service pharmacy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Casual/Registry Pharmacy Technician role within Loyola Medicine.
• 1–2 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech is required.
• CPHT or ExCPT certification required for technicians licensed after 2007.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist with processing new and refill specialty orders.
• Verify and re-verify pharmacy benefits and assist patients with reimbursement issues.
• Maintain ongoing follow-up with the specialty pharmacy and keep providers informed.

Loyola Medicine Transport is based at Loyola University Medical Center and is part of a three-hospital system including Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, and MacNeal Hospital.

What You'll Do

• The purpose of this position is to assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist or their designee, with providing support for patients receiving specialty pharmaceuticals within the Loyola University Health System. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician will be responsible for processing new and refill specialty orders including verifying and re-verifying pharmacy benefits, assisting patients with reimbursement issues, continuous follow-up with the specialty pharmacy, and keeping providers aware of prescription processing.

What You'll Need For This Job

• High School Diploma
• Preferred: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• 1-2 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Student enrolled in a college of Pharmacy preferred
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment or related field preferred
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification validated by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT validated by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required for all technicians licensed after December 31st, 2007. Newly licensed technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT and become licensed as a registered certified pharmacy technician.

Pay

Pay: $18.50 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
