Job summary

Loyola Medicine, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a part-time, rotating shift within Loyola University Medical Center’s specialty pharmacy operations. This role supports the Specialty Medication Pharmacist and helps ensure accurate processing of orders for patients in our health system.

Under pharmacist supervision, you will verify benefits, assist with reimbursement issues, and maintain proactive follow-up with the specialty pharmacy while keeping providers

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Preferred: Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
• 1–2 years of experience as Pharmacy Technician.
• IL licensure as Pharmacy Technician required.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification required for technicians licensed after 2007; 2-year window to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist Specialty Medication Pharmacist with processing new and refill specialty orders.
• Verify and re-verify pharmacy benefits.
• Assist patients with reimbursement issues.
• Maintain follow-up with the specialty pharmacy and keep providers informed of prescriptions.

What You’ll Do

• The purpose of this position is to assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist or their designee, with providing support for patients receiving specialty pharmaceuticals within the Loyola University Health System. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician will be responsible for processing new and refill specialty orders including verifying and re-verifying pharmacy benefits, assisting patients with reimbursement issues, continuous follow-up with the specialty pharmacy, and keeping providers aware of prescription processing.

What You’ll Need For This Job

• High School Diploma
• Preferred: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• 1-2 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Student enrolled in a college of Pharmacy preferred
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment or related field preferred
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification validated by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT validated by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required for all technicians licensed after December 31st, 2007. Newly licensed technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT and become licensed as a registered certified pharmacy technician.

Pay: $18.50 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
