Job summary

Loyola Medicine, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support specialty medications under pharmacist supervision. You will process new and refill orders, verify benefits, assist patients with reimbursement, and maintain communication with providers.

Flexible shifts, competitive differentials, and on-site facilities are offered. Illinois licensure and preferred CPhT/ExCPT credentials are required by regulations for licensed technicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Student enrolled in a college of Pharmacy preferred.
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech required (PTCB/ExCPT as applicable).
• CPhT or ExCPT certification required for technicians licensed after Dec 31, 2007 with 2-year window to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist with processing new and refill specialty orders, verifying and re-verifying pharmacy benefits, helping patients with reimbursement issues, following up with the specialty pharmacy, and keeping providers informed of prescription processing.

What you’ll do:

• The purpose of this position is to assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist or their designee, with providing support for patients receiving specialty pharmaceuticals within the Loyola University Health System. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician will be responsible for processing new and refill specialty orders including verifying and re-verifying pharmacy benefits, assisting patients with reimbursement issues, continuous follow-up with the specialty pharmacy, and keeping providers aware of prescription processing.

What you’ll need for this job:

• High School Diploma
• Preferred: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• 1-2 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Student enrolled in a college of Pharmacy preferred
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment or related field preferred
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification validated by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT validated by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required for all technicians licensed after December 31st, 2007. Newly licensed technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT and become licensed as a registered certified pharmacy technician.

Pa y: $ 18.50 per hour Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
