Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Pharmacy Intern to assist pharmacists in hospital-wide unit-dose distribution and IV admixture programs. Under pharmacist supervision, you will prepare IV admixtures, fill unit-dose and prepackaged meds, and verify orders for accuracy.

You will maintain inventory, restock supplies, and support daily department operations, including data entry and reports. Applicants must be enrolled in a School of Pharmacy or be a foreign pharmacy graduate applying for PA intern

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a School of Pharmacy or foreign pharmacy graduate and has applied for a Pharmacy Intern license within the state of PA within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assesses medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Fills routine orders for unit-dose carts and prepackaged pharmaceuticals; prepares, compounds and labels IV admixture, antibiotics, cardiac drips, solutions, irrigations, parenteral nutrition, and chemotherapy under pharmacist supervision.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies; restocks medications and IV dispensing area; assists in ordering, receiving and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Compounds, stocks, repackages and batches from bulk medications; prepares IV pharmaceuticals and labels accordingly.
• Maintains competence and assists in training new employees; supports data entry, labels generation, and phone duties; ensures a clean, safe work environment.
• Participates in performance improvement and regulatory compliance; promotes a safety-focused environment.

Education

Pharmacy student or foreign pharmacy graduate with PA intern license eligibility
