Job summary

Independent Health is seeking an Intake Coordinator to support pharmacy operations without pharmacists' professional judgment. You will focus on intake of new prescriptions and referrals, triage, benefits investigation, and authorization assistance.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, with one year of relevant experience or six months in related roles. Prior authorization support and claim processing familiarity are preferred, along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in high-volume pharmacy or health insurance handling prior authorizations or six months as a Patient Care Specialist./Reliance Operations & Compliance department.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
• Experience with online claims processing system preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills when working with health care professionals.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient and provider inquiries about benefit investigation, prior authorizations, referrals, and order status via calls.
• Liaise between patients, providers, and insurance companies to facilitate communication with doctors and medical staff.
• Manage incoming prescriptions for new patients and referrals from providers and other pharmacies.
• Conduct benefit investigations and assist with prior authorizations, facilitation and follow-up.
• Triage prescriptions and manage inbound fax requests, distributing requests promptly.
• Maintain patient records, filing and documentation duties, and data entry.
• Collaborate with the patient services and other departments to improve processes.
