Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Pharmacy Operations Assistant to support non-judgmental tasks, intake prescriptions, triage orders, and conduct benefits investigations in a fast-paced environment. You will coordinate with patients, providers, insurers, and staff to ensure timely processing and accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of experience in a high-volume pharmacy or health insurance company handling prior authorizations required; or six months as a temporary associate in Patient Care Specialist or Reliance Operations & Compliance.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • Experience with online claims processing system preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude for working with health care professionals.

Job description

Assist with pharmacy operations activities not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist
Intake new prescriptions and referrals
Triage prescriptions
Conduct benefits investigations
Assist with, facilitate, and follow up on prior authorizations
Answer patient and provider inquiries about benefit investigation, prior authorizations, referrals, and order status through incoming and outgoing calls
Act as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance companies, doctors, medical staff, and administrative staff
Manage incoming prescriptions for new patients and referrals from providers and other pharmacies
Manage inbound fax requests and distribute requests in a timely manner
Maintain patient records, filing, and documentation
Perform data entry
Follow up with offices and patients to ensure quick prescription turnaround
Collaborate with the patient services department and other departments to promote information sharing and continuous process improvement
Follow standard written procedures and guidelines, with deviations approved by the supervising pharmacist

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One (1) year of experience working in a high-volume pharmacy or health insurance company handling prior authorizations required; OR six (6) months as a temporary associate in the Patient Care Specialist role or Reliance Operations & Compliance department
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred
  • Experience working with online claims processing system preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for working with other health care professionals
