Job summary

Amerita in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Intake Coordinator to manage the timely clearance of new referrals. You will verify eligibility, obtain authorizations, and enter patient demographics into the system to support pharmacists.

The role requires 2+ years in healthcare referral data collection and experience with Medicare/Medicaid and commercial payers. Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5:00pm; comprehensive benefits provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate’s Degree or some college preferred.
• Minimum two years' experience collecting referral information in the healthcare market.
• Experience working with all payer types, including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurers.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures.
• Understands Amerita’s scope of services and workflows.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Takes infusion therapy referrals from referral sources.
• Ensures intake forms are complete, clear and within Amerita’s scope of service.
• Obtains authorizations and re-authorizations as required by payers.
• Enters patient demographics, insurance and authorization info into the computer system.
• Communicates with other departments regarding referral status.
• Notifies patients/families about coverage and payment responsibilities.
• Ensures insurance verification and authorization are in place before referrals are given to a Pharmacist.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.

Responsibilities

• Takes Infusion Therapy referrals from referral sources.
• Ensures that all intake forms are complete, clear and within Amerita’s scope of service.
• Obtains authorizations and re-authorizations as required by payers.
• Enters patient demographic, insurance and authorization information into the computer system.
• Communicates with other departments regarding the status of referrals.
• Notifies patients/families regarding coverage and payment responsibilities.
• Understands which insurance companies have active contracts with Amerita.
• Ensures that insurance verification is completed and authorization is in place prior to giving the referral to a Pharmacist.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
