Qualifications

• Must be registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; formal training program completed.
• Minimum 1–2 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish clinic, pharmacy, and patient relationships for patient care.
• Receive referrals to complete medication prior authorizations.
• Verify insurance benefits are active for patients.
• Complete benefits investigations to determine coverage and patient responsibility.
• Submit forms to insurance companies via phone, fax, or portals.
• Follow up to receive determination decisions promptly.
• Communicate status updates to patients, providers, and pharmacies.
• Assist self-pay and underinsured patients with manufacturer programs.
• Coordinate with clinic financial counselors and social workers.
• Assist in drug replacement for insured patients with denials.
• Coordinate and deliver medications to inpatients being discharged.
• Provide education using pill boxes and medication sheets.
• Input patient information into WAM system.
• Work with clinical pharmacists on patient management requirements.
• Contribute to quality improvement activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
