Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to support continuity of care by performing medication history interviews and assisting the clinical pharmacy team. Under supervision, you will handle medication preparation, distribution, IV compounding at select locations, and collaborate with insurance companies to resolve issues.

NC Board registration and PTCB/ExCPT certification required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program or acceptance into pharmacy school or one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform medication history interviews for patients.
• Assist with prescription processing, medication preparation and distribution.
• Restock automatic dispensing cabinets and anesthesia workstations.
• Answer and screen telephone calls and direct to the appropriate personnel.
• Handle medications per department procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with pharmacy team, insurance companies and customers to resolve issues.

Education
