Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, seeks a Pharmacy Technician II to support medication history interviews and clinical pharmacy services. The role involves collaboration with the Transitions of Care Manager within Clinical and Patient Care Services to ensure safe medication use.

Eligible candidates should have NC Pharmacy registration and PTCB/ExCPT certification, with a minimum of one year of related experience; a high school diploma and accredited technician training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with accredited pharmacy technician-training program
• Acceptance into pharmacy school
• One year of related pharmacy or health care experience (minimum)

Responsibilities

• Accurately follow workflow procedures: prescription processing, medication preparation and distribution
• Restock automated dispensing cabinets and anesthesia workstations
• Answer and direct calls to appropriate personnel
• Handle medications per department and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with pharmacy team, insurers and customers to resolve medication or insurance issues
• Assist with training of new employees and students
• Prepare IV solutions using aseptic technique and compound non-sterile medications
