Qualifications

  • Doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • 4 years of experience as a Pharmacist or 2 years as a Lead Pharmacist or in an equivalent supervisory capacity
  • State of Washington Pharmacist License
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, distribution systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Proficiency with pharmacy information systems, and dispensing technology
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and service excellence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven project management skills and committee experience
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (EMR, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work under pressure related to work/time deadlines
  • Ability to provide feedback about staff performance to staff
  • Strong teaching ability
  • Ability to lead committees

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and workflow oversight to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support personnel to ensure safe, effective, and efficient pharmacy services.
  • Hire, train, coach, support, develop, discipline, and evaluate pharmacy personnel to promote engagement, accountability, high performance, and professional growth.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures to support safe and compliant pharmacy practice.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, organizational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, ensuring ongoing operational readiness.
  • Lead and support quality assurance, quality improvement, medication safety, and error prevention initiatives, including review and follow-up of safety events and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, multidisciplinary teams, and organizational committees to support departmental objectives, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicate departmental goals, operational priorities, performance expectations, and key updates to staff while fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and service excellence.
  • Oversees day-to-day retail pharmacy and distribution operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant medication dispensing.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing and scheduling to support operational demands and customer service expectations.
  • Provides operational oversight of medication inventory management, including storage, distribution, inventory controls, and controlled substance accountability.
  • Identifies and resolves operational challenges and implements workflow improvements to optimize efficiency, patient experience, and service quality.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to support safe and effective outpatient medication management processes.
  • Coordinates pharmacy intern and technician training programs, including onboarding, competency development, and experiential learning activities.
  • Performs pharmacist duties as required to maintain continuity of operations and patient care services.
