Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Pharmacist for its Home Delivery Pharmacy Services in Austin, TX. The role focuses on accurate dispensing for mail-order and retail operations, patient counseling, and collaboration with physicians and staff.

The position requires pharmacist licensure with a Bachelor’s or PharmD in Pharmacy; master's/PharmD preferred. Retail/mail-order experience is highly preferred, with full-time day shift and 40 hours weekly.

• Retail and mail-order pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medications for mail-order and retail pharmacy operations.
• Review medication orders to identify and resolve drug-related problems; suggest formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compound and dispense medications accurately and ensure timely delivery and adherence to standards.
• Provide drug information, patient counseling, and education to patients, physicians, and staff; communicate with healthcare providers.
• Oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff; provide coverage and assist with training/precepting students.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medications, including mail-order and retail pharmacy operations.
• Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential or actual drug-related problems; recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compound and dispense medications accurately while ensuring timely delivery and adherence to pharmacy standards and protocols.
• Provide drug information, patient counseling, and education to patients, physicians, and other clinical staff; communicate with healthcare providers to support effective patient care.
• Oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff in medication preparation, maintenance, and dispensing; provide pharmacy coverage as needed and assist with training/precepting pharmacy students.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Pharmacist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required. Master's degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy preferred.

Work Experience

• None required.
