Job summary

Ascension St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Hospital Pharmacist for a full-time evening shift (11:30am–11:00pm; 7-on/7-off, Wed–Thu). You will review orders to ensure patient safety, supervise technicians, optimize formulary costs and educate staff and patients.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist license required prior to hire.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy; Doctorate/Residency preferred.
• 2+ years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Strong computer literacy and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Review medication orders to ensure patient safety and accuracy of drug, dose and administration.
• Supervise technicians to maintain efficient workflow for preparation, storage and dispensing of medications.
• Recommend less expensive but effective formulary alternatives to help manage medication costs.
• Provide drug information and educate medical staff and patients; mentor pharmacy students when needed.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Ensure Patient Safety: Review medication orders to catch and prevent drug-related issues, making sure patients receive the correct medication, dosage, and administration.
• Manage Pharmacy Operations: Supervise technicians to maintain an accurate and efficient workflow for preparing, storing, and dispensing medications.
• Control Costs: Recommend less expensive, but equally effective, formulary alternatives to help the hospital manage medication expenses.
• Educate and Inform: Serve as the go-to expert for drug information and provide education to both medical staff and patients, sometimes mentoring pharmacy students.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• Pharmacist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required. Master's degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy preferred.

Additional Preferences

• 2+ years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred
• A working knowledge of computers
• Excellent interpersonal skills, in-person and via phone
