Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health’s Rabun County Health Department seeks a PH RN Nurse Supervisor to lead clinical services on site. You will supervise nursing staff, ensure adherence to protocols, and coordinate community health initiatives with partners.

Under limited supervision, you will manage budgets, train staff, and oversee quality assurance, CLIA lab audits, and emergency coverage plans as part of a dynamic public health team serving Northeast Georgia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and two years PHN experience.
  • Current Georgia RN license and CPR certification.
  • Alternate path: Associate degree with three years PHN experience and PHN course within one year of hire; GA RN license and CPR required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate county health department programs and clinical services; ensure compliance with nurse protocols.
  • Supervise nursing staff; establish performance expectations; provide coaching and feedback; support recruitment and retention.
  • Coordinate collaboration with community partners; oversee budget and resources; contribute to planning and training initiatives.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities and CLIA lab audits; coordinate coverage for public health emergencies.

As an PH RN Nurse Supervisor within the Rabun County Health Department.

At the District Two, Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. One of the fastest growing regions in the state, District 2 includes rural and urban communities with diverse public health challenges.

Under limited supervision, manages programs, staff, clinical services and fiscal processes of a local public health department. Identifies community partners, providers and agencies and develops relationships to further public health efforts in the community.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Program and Clinical Leadership: Direct and coordinate county health department programs and clinical services to ensure compliance. Provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
  • Staff Leadership and Development: Supervise nursing and additional staff as needed; establish performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, conduct performance reviews, and support employee development, recruitment, retention, and separation processes.
  • Community and Partner Collaboration: Build and maintain effective relationships with community partners and health department staff to coordinate outreach, home visits, off-site clinics, mentoring, and other public health services.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Assist with developing and monitoring the health department budget and resources.
  • Training and Assistance: Participate in state and local planning and training initiatives and provide training, assistance, and professional support to health department staff and community partners.
  • Quality and Program Improvement: Monitor program performance and service delivery, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement strategies that promote efficient operations and positive outcomes for clients and the community.
  • Assist DND with training of new nurses
  • Execute Protocol Training
  • Oversee Quality Assurance activities in the Health Departments
  • Oversee CLIA lab audits
  • Coordinate coverage of nurses during Public Health emergencies
  • Coordinate outreach events
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of PHN experience AND Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification
  • Associate's degree/diploma in Nursing from an accredited college AND Three years of PHN experience AND Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
