Job summary

VCA Animal Hospitals is seeking a friendly client service representative to join our team. In this role you will greet visitors, schedule appointments, handle telephone inquiries and guide clients and their pets to exam rooms, while explaining fees and processing payments.

The ideal candidate has at least one year experience helping customers, strong listening and communication skills, and a compassionate attitude toward pets and people.

Qualifications

• At least one year of proven past experience helping customers.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Compassion for pets and people—with awareness of others’ reactions.
• Proven decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action.
• Ability to integrate new information into problem-solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, answer phones, and guide clients and their pets to exam rooms.
• Schedule and confirm appointments.
• Place outbound calls for follow-ups and prospective clients.
• Present and explain fees, including processing payments.
• Recommend, select, and obtain products and services, including prescriptions.
• Answer questions regarding products and services, including educating clients on general animal husbandry and non-medical pet care.
• Manage medical records, charts, reports and correspondence.
