Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to support the veterinary team in delivering top-quality pet care. You will prepare the treatment room, assist with exams, restrain and handle animals, and perform in-house lab work under state guidelines.

You will help maintain patient comfort, communicate preventive care to clients, and contribute to a clean, organized hospital environment while supporting the Client Services team as needed.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical item and supplies for the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician.
• Maintain the flow of the Cycle of Service in accordance with position and provide client education.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests as allowed by state rules.
• Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients and ensure their well-being.
• Bathe and dip pets when necessary to treat dermatological conditions as advised.
• Clean the surgical suite and instruments.
• Ensure cleanliness of the hospital, including housekeeping tasks as outlined by hospital protocols.
• Other job duties as assigned.
