Job summary

Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is seeking an Adoption & Customer Service Specialist to assist the public with adoption needs, answer questions, and provide information under the Animal Care Team Manager. You will greet visitors, handle inquiries, and guide potential adopters through the process.

Role requires empathy, strong communication, and a willingness to work weekends and holidays. A high school diploma or GED and basic computer skills are needed; bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 6 months related animal care experience preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Basic computer skills with MS Word.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist all customers entering the lobby.
• Answer phone calls and return messages as needed.
• Counsel adopters and explain the adoption process.
• Approve or decline adoptions and process accordingly.
• Know temperaments of pets available for adoption.
• Explain policies to the public.
• Maintain safety and follow all policies.
• Assist community resource desk with licensing and relinquishments.
• Monitor health of adoptable pets and notify staff of concerns.
• Prepare animals for adoption, write bios, and create listings.
• Support volunteers and assist during shifts.
