Job summary

The Jonus Group seeks an experienced Personal Lines Manager or Vice President to lead a Personal Lines department in a full-time, in-office capacity. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on management, requiring a strong background in underwriting, compliance, and team leadership within insurance.

Responsibilities include budgeting, performance reviews, carrier relationships, and product enhancement initiatives to drive profitable premiums and client service excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience in underwriting within a carrier environment is essential.
• Strong leadership and staff development experience is required.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards is crucial.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Personal Lines department, ensuring underwriting integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Hire, mentor, and develop staff, including onboarding and career development.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and set collaborative goals for team success.
• Prepare and manage the department's annual budget, including premium, income, expenses, and salaries.
• Monitor and maintain P&L authority, analyzing underwriting metrics for improvements.
• Lead development of product enhancements based on industry trends and book performance.
• Manage relationships with carriers and agencies, ensuring loss ratios and reporting.
• Oversee underwriting policies, guidelines, and appetite; identify trends and develop market-leading solutions.
• Conduct monthly audits, prepare for carrier audits, and respond to findings.
