Job description

The Position:

The Personal Care Attendant II provides assistance to CEI participants in their home or day center. The role involves demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide personal care and ADL/IADL care to frail elderly individuals, supporting their ability to live safely in the community. The PCA II offers care according to the participant's care plan, in line with PACE Regulations. The hourly rate for this position at the Center For Elders Independence ranges from $21.89 to $32.73, based on market conditions, experience, skills, abilities, and work history. This position is eligible for a $2,000 Sign-On Bonus!

General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides ADL and IADL support such as toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, meal service, laundry, transfers, and ambulation.
  • Completes safe transfers using DME, including lifts, gait belts, and hoyers.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the participant's bathroom, including emptying and cleaning the commode.
  • Provides appointment reminders and escorts participants to medical appointments or CEI vans as needed.
  • Documents services accurately in electronic health records and reports any violations of the Participant Bill of Rights.
  • Responds promptly to participant complaints, reports changes in condition, and maintains professionalism and dependability.
  • Ensures safety and confidentiality, complies with all training and safety guidelines, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:

For Day Center:

  • Records services in logs or electronic records.
  • Assists with activities, accompanies participants, and ensures safety measures like wearing alert devices.
  • Obtains food handler certification and assists with food services and kitchen duties.
  • Acts as part of the interdisciplinary team as needed.

For Home Care:

  • Monitors vital signs, assists with medication prompts, and manages personal care tasks such as dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
  • Performs light housekeeping, laundry, and follows the home care plan.
  • Requires a valid CNA license or Home Health Aide certification, a valid California driver’s license, and current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Minimum one year of experience with frail, low-income elderly preferred. Bilingual skills are a plus.
Additional Job Requirements:

This role requires physical activity, including frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling objects over 150 pounds. Visual acuity and the ability to work in diverse health and environmental conditions are essential. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
