Parks and Recreation Part Time Employee - FACILITY ATTENDANT

This position is a part-time, non-benefitted role with intermittent hours, primarily during nights and weekends.

Come join our team! The City of Novato is recruiting for a Facility Attendant.

The City of Novato seeks part-time, non-benefitted Facility Attendants to work intermittent hours, mainly during nights and weekends. Ideal candidates are 18 or older, friendly, professional, and capable of courteous communication with the public. Candidates should demonstrate honesty, integrity, customer service orientation, sound judgment, and maturity. Availability on weekday evenings and weekends is essential. Bilingual English/Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply.

Facility Attendants are classified as Recreation Leaders, with responsibilities including monitoring facilities, assisting with recreational activities, and providing excellent customer service. Duties vary by level:

  • Recreation Leader I: Assists with indoor/outdoor games, crafts, and special events for youth; manages equipment and safety; may handle cashiering at pools or events.
  • Recreation Leader II/III: Supervises and instructs various recreational programs, monitors facilities, assists with event setup, and provides customer assistance. Leaders with prior experience may train new employees and temporarily assume higher responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Recreation Leader I: Must be at least 14 years old.
  • Recreation Leader II/III: Must be at least 16 years old.

Required certifications include TB clearance, fingerprinting, CPR, and First Aid. Candidates working with youth must provide proof of TB clearance, recertify every four years, and submit fingerprints to the California DOJ.

Selection Process: Applications are screened for completeness and minimum qualifications. Qualified candidates will be reviewed in detail, and an eligibility list will be established.
