Qualifications

Job description

The Position: The Personal Care Attendant II provides assistance to CEI participants in their homes or at the day center. The role requires knowledge and skills to deliver personal care and ADL/IADL support to frail elderly individuals, enabling them to live safely in the community. The PCA II offers care according to the participant’s care plan, compliant with PACE regulations.

The hourly rate for the Personal Care Attendant II - Home Care position at Center For Elders Independence ranges from $21.89 to $32.73, based on market conditions, experience, skills, and work history.

This position is eligible for a $2,000 Sign-On Bonus!

General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide ADL and IADL support such as toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, meal service, laundry, transfers, and ambulation.
  • Perform safe transfers using DME like lifts, gait belts, and hoyers.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the participant’s bathroom, including emptying and cleaning the commode.
  • Send appointment reminders to participants.
  • Keep the center or home clean and organized, including sanitizing bathrooms and relevant DME.
  • Escort participants to CEI vans if needed.
  • Accurately document services in the electronic health record in a timely manner.
  • Advocate for participants by reporting violations of their rights.
  • Respond promptly to participant complaints and document them appropriately.
  • Report any changes in participant’s condition to the supervisor.
  • Arrive reliably and on time, and submit accurate timesheets.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional attitude.
  • Be responsive to all customer groups—team members, participants, and families.
  • Follow all training, safety, and confidentiality policies.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement programs and adhere to OSHA guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Valid California CNA license or Certified HHA required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid California driver’s license, insurance, and reliable vehicle required for home care roles.
  • Current BLS CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • Proficient in English, with basic computer skills.
  • At least 1 year experience with frail, low-income elderly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
Additional Job Requirements:

This role involves physical activity such as standing, talking, hearing, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds are necessary. The ability to push or pull objects over 150 pounds with proper body mechanics is required. Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, color, and depth perception.
