Job summary

The City of Ventura is seeking a motivated Permit Services Technician to join the Community Development Department. Under supervision, you will issue permits, process plans, and maintain records while serving as the first point of contact for applicants.

Responsibilities include assisting contractors, reviewing applications, and resolving customer concerns, with a focus on accurate fee calculation and efficient permitting processes. This role supports office operations and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Experience handling building permits or public-facing permit processes is a plus.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are required.
• Experience with records management or permit software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Process building and construction permits efficiently and accurately, including fees and payments.
• Provide customer service by answering questions on permits, fees, codes, and procedures.
• Assist contractors and the public with permit applications and required documentation.
• Review applications and plans for completeness and route for review.
• Maintain records and prepare reports; support office operations.
