Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee produce, fresh meat, dairy, bakery and frozen items in Ohio. You will manage inventory, ensure safe operations, and provide quality customer service.

You will support the Store Manager, train associates, control stock levels, rotate perishables and maintain presentation per plan‑o‑gram, while upholding company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and percentages.
• Ability to learn cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling and security procedures.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels across produce, meat, dairy, bakery and frozen items.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and safety policies; train associates accordingly.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Train associates on proper stocking, pricing, rotation and presentation per plan-o-gram.
• Maintain inventory records and support merchandise presentation and customer service.
