Job summary

Dollar General in Ohio seeks a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Bakery, and related areas. You will ensure fresh, properly stocked merchandise, quality customer service, and compliance with food handling rules.

You will train associates, manage perishables inventory, and assist in scheduling to maintain coverage while upholding safety and company standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (add/subtract/percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate cash registers.
• Familiarity with safety policies and practices in a retail environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and presentation guidance.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience; lead or grocery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume.
• Prepare/maintain order guides for Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, and Bakery.
• Review sales history and create effective replenishment plans.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure proper food handling and safety compliance.
• Assist in scheduling and coverage to meet store needs.
• Record perishables markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure accurate inventory records and sanitation standards.
