Job summary

Dollar General in Luther, Oklahoma, is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to supervise produce, meat, dairy, bakery and related operations. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory management, merchandise presentation and delivering quality customer service in a fast-paced environment.

You will help maintain stock levels, train associates on freshness and pricing, follow food safety rules, and ensure cash accountability and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Learn and perform cash register functions to generate reports.
• Review operating statements and identify business trends (sales, profitability, turnover) and expense opportunities.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding of plan-o-gram and merchandising guidance.
• Ability and willingness to obtain required certifications in food handling.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels and manage inventories using store tools.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed efficiently and promptly.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
