Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Perishables Lead to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related departments. You will assist with inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring safety and policy compliance.

The role includes coaching associates on stock rotation, pricing, and food handling. The position emphasizes maintaining stock levels, accurate markdowns, and safe operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs and handbook procedures; ensure employee compliance.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using various planning tools.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of food.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure perishable inventories are rotated and properly re-packaged when needed.
• Manage customer needs and requests with timely, courteous service.
• Ensure sanitation standards and staff training in Perishable areas.
