Job summary

Dollar General is looking for a dedicated perishable department lead to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and related perishables. You will help optimize inventory, ensure fresh presentation, and uphold food handling safety while supporting the Store Manager in daily operations.

The role emphasizes stock planning, pricing integrity, customer service, and training assigned associates in perishable best practices to reduce markdowns and improve shopper experience.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Performs basic math for reports, pricing, and inventory.
• Handles cash and monitors cash accountability and deposits.
• Manages perishable stock and merchandising presentation.
• Communicates effectively with customers and team.
• Familiar with safety policies in food handling environments.
• Follows plan-o-gram guidelines for product placement.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, handbooks, and company communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using key tools and guides.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure proper stocking rotations and markdown procedures.
• Record inventories and analyze causes of variances.
• Address customer needs promptly and courteously.
• Support other store operations as directed by the Store Manager.
