Job summary

Dollar General in Bethalto, IL is seeking a perishable department manager to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery and related areas. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, stock levels, merchandising, and ensuring safe, profitable operations.

Responsibilities include cash accountability, training staff, enforcing policies, maintaining stock accuracy, and addressing customer needs promptly. Prior retail supervisory experience is preferred; food handling certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability, key control, and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Assist Store Manager in ensuring employee compliance.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using various guides and reports.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed efficiently and timely.
