Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment; Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Perishable Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates.
• Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provides ongoing performance management, training and conducts timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
• Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.
• Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
• Promote enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, easy, flexible and friendly service while creating a positive shopping experience.
• Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use knowledge of department products to offer solutions meeting customers’ expectations.
• Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment.
• Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering, and business information systems.
• Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety and sanitation.
• Ensure Perishable Department schedules enable extraordinary customer service.
• Have a complete understanding of scheduling, sales, projections, wage percent, interviewing, hiring, training, company information, and other items necessary to manage the Perishable Department.
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise adheres to policies and guidelines.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Record and report accidents following Food Lion procedures.
• Monitor shrink and coach associates to prevent losses.
• Ensure advertising and signage for the Perishable Department are used properly.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
• Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices.
• Maintain security standards.
• Complete CBT, Training Packet and Training Aid courses.
• Provide recognition and constructive counseling related to customer satisfaction and store sales.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
