Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage grocery and dairy sections under Store Manager supervision. You will oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related perishable areas, ensuring inventory accuracy, pricing standards, and customer satisfaction.

The role emphasizes food safety, staff training, and adherence to company policies while maintaining financial integrity and merchandise presentation across the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability, key control, and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using tools such as Current Ads / Planners and Order guides.
• Train assigned associates in perishable presentation, freshness and pricing standards, and safe food handling.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed in a timely manner.
• Support compliance with sanitation standards and help train associates in the Perishable departments.
