Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a capable Store Lead to oversee the Perishable Departments, ensuring fresh, well‑ presented products and strong customer service at the store level. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, pricing, and compliance to safety and food handling rules.

The role requires experience in retail environments, supervisory exposure, and the ability to train staff in perishable presentation, accuracy, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in overseeing perishable departments (produce, meat, dairy, bakery) to ensure quality and presentation.
• Maintain inventory levels and utilize planning tools to manage stock and freshness.
• train associates on proper stocking, rotation, and safety procedures.
• record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and support store security and cash controls.
