Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department lead to manage the produce, dairy, meats, bakery, and related sections. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, presentation, and customer service while ensuring food safety and policy compliance.

You’ll train staff on stocking, freshness, rotation, and price integrity, monitor perishable markdowns, and help meet store goals. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity and cash accountability.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and proper merchandising in the department.
• Train associates in stocking, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of perishable products.
• Record inventory and respond to customer needs efficiently.
