Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience.
• Current state licensure to practice.
• BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification if pediatric care is included within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status according to policies.
• Interpret information from monitors.
• Describe pathophysiology of disease processes.
• Describe anesthesia physiology and procedures.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care including recovery from anesthesia.
• Administer medications safely using the 8-rights.
• Maintain wound and tissue perfusion; protect patient from injury.
• Provide hand-off and education; involve patient/family in decisions.
• Collaborate with disciplines; participate in quality improvement.
