Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a PreOp PACU Registered Nurse for PRN shifts in an ambulatory surgery center. You will plan, execute, and evaluate preoperative and postoperative nursing care, ensuring patient safety and comfort while aligning with center and HCA standards.

You will assess patients, administer medications, manage IV therapies, and monitor discharge readiness. This role requires an active RN license, BCLS and ACLS within specified timelines, with PALS as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or higher required.
• 1+ years nursing experience in PACU, ICU or Surgery preferred.
• Active RN license as required by state of employment.
• BCLS certification required; online certification not acceptable.
• ACLS required within 30 days of hire.
• PALS if required by facility within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients’ care area before case and ensure readiness of equipment and supplies.
• Administer pre-operative medications and IV therapies as prescribed.
• Perform complete physical and history assessment and report findings to the surgeon.
• Monitor and manage IV lines, dressings and operative site as needed.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria and provide appropriate post-op instructions.
• Collaborate with surgical team and nursing staff to maintain safety and quality of care.
