Job summary

SCA Health in New Jersey (Clifton) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our PreOp PACU team. You will assess patients pre- and post-operatively, monitor vital signs, and ensure safe anesthesia recovery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
• Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
• Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
• PALS certification within 90 days if pediatric care is included.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility policies and procedures.
• Interpret information from noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
• Apply discharge criteria scoring systems for patient transfer.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care including perioperative recovery management across various anesthesia modalities.
• Protect patient from injury during positioning and exposure to sources.
• Communicate patient status throughout the perioperative continuum.
• Provide acute pain and comfort management; administer medications safely using the 8 rights.
