Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU to support preoperative and postoperative patient care across the perioperative continuum. You will assess patients, monitor vital functions, manage pain and recovery, and collaborate with surgeons and staff to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status according to facility policies.
• Interpret information from monitors.
• Describe pathophysiology of common diseases.
• Describe physiology of anesthesia techniques and interventions.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement plan of care including anesthesia recovery management across settings.
• Prepare for and protect patient from injury during perioperative care.
• Communicate patient status to the care team.
• Provide pain and comfort management.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights.
• Maintain wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline.
• Maintain organ system stability and fluid balance.
• Ensure normothermia after surgery.
• Prevent infection and manage co-morbid conditions.
• Educate patient and caregiver regarding recovery and medications.
• Involve patient in decisions and respect rights and privacy.
• Provide age-appropriate, culturally competent care.
• Participate in quality improvement and team activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
