Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners is seeking a Registered Nurse to assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room, ensuring safety and adherence to standards and facility policies. The position involves perioperative patient care, teaching, and collaboration with physicians and staff.

The role requires an active RN license, BLS and ALS certification, and typically 2+ years of operating room experience. Schedule: Mon-Thu 0600-1630, competitive wages with robust benefits and PTO.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/significant others understanding of disease process and need for surgical intervention
• Perform perioperative teaching to patient/significant other
• Demonstrate nursing management and intervention in the perioperative period
• Preoperative patient assessment, review of surgeon preference card, assess equipment/supply needs
• Prepare operating room and ensure availability of needed supplies and equipment
• Provide patient care across the age span and safe medication administration
• Position patient appropriately and use positioning aids to avoid complications
• Perform surgical prep per standard of care and surgeon preference
• Ensure equipment is functioning and handle specimens per policy
• Maintain emergency equipment availability and keep suites clean and stocked
• Participate in medical records QAPI and quality improvement processes
• Keep professional relationships with physicians and patients under assessment of needs
