Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Ambulatory Surgery Center PreOp/PACU team in Chapel Hill. You will provide high-quality perioperative care in a fast-paced, collaborative setting with no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.

The role covers PreOp and PACU with cross-training to support patient flow, improving life balance while maintaining professional standards. BLS required; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must enroll within four years and obtain a BSN or MSN within seven years of employment.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify learning needs, attends programs, uses patient education materials, assesses readiness to learn.
• Evaluation of care: identify outcomes, revise plan with team, communicate for continuity of care.
• Implementation: care for complex patients, bedside testing, follow standards, prioritize care, consult for high-risk issues.
• Leadership: set goals for growth, collaborate intra/interdepartmentally, promote cost-effective care, provide feedback.
• Patient assessment: synthesize data, plan discharge, involve families in advocacy.
• Planning: coordinate with multidisciplinary team, address cultural factors, prioritize tasks for complex cases.
• Research: read journals and bring ideas for evaluation.

Education

Graduation from a school of professional nursing

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master’s degree within seven years of employment

Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
