Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Preop and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in the NC Surgical Hospital. Shifts include days or nights, with per diem coverage for Preop and PACU.

Preferred candidates have PACU, ED or ICU experience and strong communication. BLS required; ACLS & PALS preferred. The RN will provide competent clinical nursing care and coordinate patient care under the Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• BLS certification required; ACLS & PALS preferred.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Minimum of 1 year relevant/current experience.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify learning needs; participate in education programs; assess readiness to learn.
• Evaluation of care: identify outcomes and revise care plan with team.
• Implementation: care for patients with complex problems; perform bedside testing; follow policies.
• Leadership: develop goals, promote collaboration, participate in unit goals.
• Patient assessment: synthesize data, plan discharge needs, build family relationships.
• Planning: collaborate with patient/family; use multidisciplinary resources; communicate plans.
• Research: read journals and bring ideas to staff.
