Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System is seeking an organized Operating Room Scheduler to manage the OR calendar under Perioperative Services. You will coordinate with surgeons, nursing, anesthesia, and revenue cycle teams to ensure timely, accurate scheduling and case authorization.

The role emphasizes discretion, confidentiality, and the ability to adapt in a fast paced perioperative environment with daily huddles and block management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two (2) years of experience using an electronic health record and running multiple programs is required.
• Two (2) years of experience working with coding software for surgical procedure orders is required.
• Two (2) years of experience with Cerner, SurgiNet, eCare, and EDM is required.
• Three (3) years of experience coordinating OR procedures with surgical, nursing, and anesthesia teams is required.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a main resource to physicians for OR scheduling.
• Cancels and reschedules cases from the scheduling queue.
• Attends daily OR scheduling huddles with Perioperative leadership.
• Works with insurance and revenue cycle to obtain authorization for patients.
• Maintains surgeons block schedules for all surgical and robotic cases.
• Ensures accurate surgical information and CPT codes.
