Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as the Operating Room Scheduler. This role coordinates with Surgery, Anesthesia, and Nursing Services to optimize OR time and patient flow.

The RN demonstrates leadership, utilizes nursing processes, and ensures preparation across departments for surgical patients. This position involves direct collaboration with residents and fellows as needed.

Qualifications

• English proficiency and state nursing license required.
• Graduate of an approved nursing program with current US licensure.
• Experience in operating room scheduling and cross-service coordination.

Responsibilities

• Manage operating room scheduling to maximize room utilization.
• Coordinate master surgery schedule with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and other services.
• Input scheduling data into surgical software and adjust as needed.
• Serve as liaison among OR team, anesthesia providers, and clinics to prepare patients.
• Provide guidance to residents and fellows on OR scheduling policies.
