Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking an Operating Room Scheduling Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of centralized OR scheduling across multiple facilities. The role focuses on streamlined patient access, scheduling accuracy, and enhanced physician satisfaction.

You will partner with facility leadership, perioperative teams, and IT to standardize processes, drive utilization, and lead performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Admin, Business, Nursing or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years in healthcare operations, surgical services, or scheduling.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.
• Multi-facility operations and centralized scheduling experience preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma, PMP, CASC or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead centralized OR scheduling across multiple facilities.
• Design and execute strategies to improve OR access, throughput, and utilization.
• Direct scheduling functions with focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Serve as liaison between scheduling ops and facility leadership.
• Partner with executives to address operational concerns and standardize processes.
• Develop relationships with physicians, anesthesia, nursing, and admins.
• Escalate complex scheduling issues to executive level.
• Use analytics and dashboards to drive decisions and improvements.
• Monitor utilization, cancellations, productivity, and customer metrics.
• Develop workforce plans and staffing models to cover facilities.
• Lead quality and process improvement for patient access and satisfaction.
• Manage budgets, planning, and productivity goals.
• Prepare and present executive-level operational reports.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Collaborate with IT and Clinical Informatics to optimize scheduling systems.
