Job summary

The Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System in West Los Angeles is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Pre/Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The RN provides specialized nursing care before and after surgical procedures, including assessments, anesthesia recovery, pain and airway management, and patient education.

Responsibilities include coordinating care with surgical teams, supporting nursing leadership, and contributing to quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program approved by the accrediting bodies (ACEN/CCNE).
• Current, full, active RN license in the United States.
• English proficiency as required for VA direct patient care.
• Formal degree equivalency validation for foreign nursing education may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care in pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia care units.
• Perform preoperative assessments and validate consent and documentation.
• Monitor recovery, manage pain, airway, and vital signs.
• Collaborate with surgical teams and maintain accurate EHR documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and nursing leadership activities.
