Job summary

The Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System (GLA) - West Los Angeles is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pre/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PRE/PACU). The RN provides specialized nursing care before and after surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures.

Duties include patient assessments, monitoring anesthesia recovery, managing pain and airway needs, coordinating care, providing patient education, and supporting nursing leadership and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency required for direct patient care.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted nursing license in a US state.
• Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative perioperative phases.
• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments and validate informed consent.
• Manage airway, pain, and monitoring during recovery from anesthesia.
• Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and ensure SOP compliance.
• Participate in nursing leadership, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
