Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of pre-op, PACU, or medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state RN licensure in good standing.
• BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required if pediatric care is included within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission and values of SCA Health.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
• Describe the physiology associated with anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions.
• Develop and implement individualized perianesthesia plans of care.
• Communicate patient status across the perioperative continuum of care.
• Review preoperative tests and notify physicians when results are abnormal or incomplete.
• Serve as primary contact for referral sources to screen and clearance of patients.
• Administer medications safely and correctly by using the 8-rights of safe medication administration.
• Provide education regarding perioperative care and expected responses to procedures.
• Adhere to Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policies.
