Job summary

SCA Health in Atlanta, GA seeks a Registered Nurse Pre-Assessment Testing to lead preoperative screening and perianesthesia planning, collaborating with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

You will review medical histories, coordinate screening, educate patients and families, and provide nursing care across the perianesthesia continuum while upholding Universal Protocol.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state licensure to practice in good standing.
• BLS/BCLS within 90 days.
• ACLS within 90 days.
• PALS certification when pediatric care is included.
• Perioperative nursing certification preferred.
• One year of pre-op, PACU, or medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Ability to follow Universal Protocol and time-out policy.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
• Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care by implementing: Communicating the patient’s current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care.
• Evaluating the patient’s past medical history and surgical plan using the PAT anesthesia protocols.
• Interviewing pre-operative patients to gather necessary data to assist for admission.
• Reviewing preoperative test results and notifying physicians when results are outside normal limits.
• Serving as initial and primary contact for referral sources to direct screening and clearance.

Education

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing

Current state licensure to practice in good standing
