Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Registered Nurse Pre-Assessment Testing to support perioperative care in our Dallas area facilities. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and care teams to evaluate patients, gather data, and determine clearance for procedures.

Responsibilities include reviewing medical histories, coordinating preoperative testing, and educating patients on medications and preparation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of pre-op, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience required.
• Current state RN license in good standing.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope within 90 days of employment; specialty certification in Perioperative or perianesthesia nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
• Describe the physiology associated with anesthesia techniques and surgical interventions.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and communicate the patient’s status throughout the perioperative continuum.
• Review preoperative data and notify physicians when results are abnormal or incomplete.
• Serve as the primary contact for referrals to direct screening and clearance for scheduled procedures.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights and provide patient education.
• Maintain infection control, safety protocols, and patient advocacy throughout care.
• Provide education to patient and designated support person and ensure consent and privacy.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and provide accurate hand-off reports to the perioperative team.
• Participate in quality review, performance improvement projects, and ongoing professional growth.
