Job summary

SCA Health, part of Optum, is hiring a Registered Nurse for Pre-Assessment Testing to support perioperative care across our Massachusetts facilities. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, and nursing teams to optimize patient readiness for procedures and ensure safety through the perioperative continuum.

The role emphasizes evaluation of medical history, preoperative testing, patient education, and adherence to Universal Protocol.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of pre‑op, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state nursing licensure in good standing.
• BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days; ACLS within 90 days; PALS if pediatrics.
• Specialty perioperative or perianesthesia certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote SCA Health mission, vision, and values.
• Describe pathophysiology of common diseases and anesthesia techniques.
• Develop perianesthesia care plans and communicate status across teams.
• Coordinate preoperative assessment, review tests, and obtain clearance.
• Provide patient education and advocate for patient safety.
• Ensure safe medication administration and infection control.
• Deliver hand‑off reports and participate in quality improvement.
• Maintain competencies and pursue professional growth.
