Job summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking a Nurse Educator, Perioperative Services to lead education and professional development across the Operating Room, PACU, Pre-Admit, Endoscopy and Central Sterile Processing units. Reporting to the AVP, Perioperative Services, you will plan, implement, and evaluate education programs that build and sustain clinical competency.

Qualifications

• BSN required; Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Five years perioperative nursing experience; two years as educator.
• Current DC RN license and BLS certification.
• Knowledge of perioperative nursing practice and education methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop educational programs to build and maintain nursing competency.
• Create the Perioperative Nursing Program for new and transferring staff; support preceptors.
• Maintain in-OR presence to identify learning needs and monitor practice.
• Educate on new protocols, in-services, and EMR systems.
• Ensure activities align with standards, regulations, and institutional philosophy.
• Serve as clinical expert interfacing with nursing and medical staff.
• Promote compliance with HIPAA and health care regulations.
